He grew up watching his goals but now Chelsea wonder kid Oscar says he is revelling in the pre-match coaching sessions from Blues legend Didier Drogba.

The big Ivorian netted for Chelsea as they beat Tottenham 3-0 on Wednesday night, and his Brazilian team mate revealed how Drogba has brought more than mere goals to the table-topping side.

“Ah Didier – he is fantastic," said the 23-year-old midfielder. Fantastic player, fantastic person, and I am so happy he is a part of the team,”

“He speaks before the game for the attacking players. He wants to score every game. He wants to score and to help with the game.

“I see it (Drogba's goals) on the TV when I was young, and we now play together. He speaks not just with me, but with the attacking players.

“He scored so many goals for Chelsea. He pushes so much the young players.

“At this level – he is fantastic. I like him so much.”

Drogba, rising to the occasion during the final parade lap of his career with Chelsea, now has four goals to his name in a season where he turns 37.

Oscar, 13 years his junior, is looking forward to a glittering career with the Blues having recently signed a new deal.

And he says humility is needed if Chelsea are to make this a season to remember.

“Mourinho speaks with us before the game – you stay with your feet on the floor because we haven't won the league, we haven't won the Champions League,” he said.

“We just started the season. We have so many games and we need to continue to win the games.

“He wants us to stay confident, but not so confident, because sometimes it is dangerous.

“And he says for the attacking players – go forwards and score, and play your football. When we don't have the ball, defend, and the team plays like this.”

Chelsea, who remain six points clear at the top of the league, next head to Newcastle for Saturday's lunchtime kick off.
