Petr Cech will travel with the rest of the Chelsea squad to Austria on Monday as he continues his rehabilitation from injury - but the goalkeeper may not see any match action on tour.

The 32-year-old dislocated his shoulder in the first leg of Blues’ Champions League semi-final clash with Atletico Madrid towards the end of last season and was unable to complete the campaign.

Cech is on the comeback trail, although he is not yet taking full part in training as he works to build his fitness back gradually with goalkeeping coach Christoph Lollichon at the club’s Cobham training base.

Reunion: Cech will fly out with John Terry and the rest of the squad on Monday

Blues assistant manager Steve Holland said: “He’s making very good progress and working as you’d expect of a guy of his professionalism. He’s working ahead of schedule.

“He’s working with Christoph every day now, not quite full goalkeeping work, but he’s well on course and hopefully it won’t be too long before he can join in full training.

“He’ll be with us in Austria and we see how he progress [before involving him in games].”

Incoming: Courtois will fly out to join the group a week later

Thibaut Courtois will rival Cech for the gloves at Stamford Bridge next season after returning from his loan spell with Atletico.

He is expected to join up with the rest of the Blues squad in the second week of the European adventure after being granted an extended break due to his World Cup exertions.

Chelsea continued their pre-season preparations with a 3-2 win over AFC Wimbledon today.
