CHELSEA keeper Petr Cech says the team have done their best to give their new boss an easy start.

The Czech international admits finishing in the Premier League’s top three has made life easier, without the need to negotiate a qualifying tie to reach the group stages of the Champions League.

He added it will give the new boss – expected to be Jose Mourinho – more time to prepare the squad for the new season.

“We can say the job’s done,” said Cech. “We knew that once we fell too far behind Manchester United that our concentration would be on the Europa League, FA Cup and finishing top three.

"We finished top three, won the Europa League and I think with all those difficult games we had to win at the end of the season, we did really well.

“The structure of the pre-season can be held the same way as normal.

“This is a big help because otherwise (if fourth) suddenly you have to change all the pre-season and juggle who will come and on which date because most of the players are going away with their national teams.

“Now everybody will have enough rest to come and start the season and be fresh. We don’t have to worry about anything and this is a great way to start the next season.”
