Chelsea found solace in the Champions League as they put their Premier League woes firmly behind them at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues went into their Group G clash with Maccabi Tel Aviv on the back of their worst start to a season since 1986 having picked up just one victory.

That all changed tonight though as Jose Mourinho silenced his critics by making six changes and the gamble paid off as three points were duly delivered.

It looked as though Chelsea’s troubles would continue early on though as Eden Hazard sent his penalty soaring into the back of the stand.

But they took the lead thanks to a large slice of luck when Willian’s free-kick somehow evaded everyone in the box and found its way into the far corner.

Oscar doubled the advantage on the stroke of half-time before Diego Costa got back on the goal trail and Cesc Fabregas added the final flourish.
