Their fans might not be happy with a mid-table finish on the pitch this season, but that is where Chelsea rank in in terms of season ticket affordability for locals.

Fish4jobs, a leading online job site and recruitment specialist, have unveiled a striking new visualisation showing how the Premier League clubs would finish based on the affordability of their season tickets when compared to the average weekly wage of their local residents.

The Blues are 12th in the table – by no means the best but far from the worst – with the study calculating it would take a Chelsea local, earning an average weekly wage for the area of £632.30, some 66 hours of work to save up enough for the cheapest season ticket at Stamford Bridge (£750).

Chelsea do rank highest, however, in terms of the average take home pay for locals, just ahead of Arsenal (£607.70 per week), the Gunners having the most expensive season ticket in the Premier League at a staggering £1,014.

Top of the pile for affordability are the team Antonio Conte's men beat on Monday, West Ham United. It would take just 40 hours of work for a Hammers fan to pay for West Ham’s most affordable season ticket. The most affordable season ticket at the London Stadium costs £289, compared to the average resident weekly wage of £408.70.

Liverpool finished bottom of the table as local residents would have to work for 98 hours, the equivalent of 12 working days, to be able to purchase the most affordable season ticket at Anfield. The most affordable season ticket at Anfield costs an eye-watering £685, compared to the average resident weekly wage of £392.90.

They might be the current Premier League champions, but Claudio Ranieri's Leicester City are down in 11th in this table, one place below Chelsea. Ranking lowest in terms of their average weekly wage (£343.80), it takes the local residents of Leicester 64 hours of work to purchase the most affordable season ticket to the King Power Stadium.
