Diego Costa will start against Stoke City at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

But captain John Terry and Spanish midfielder Pedro will not be fit in time for the clash with Mark Hughes' Stoke City.

Blues boss Guus Hiddink confirmed the duo will be out, but Chelsea will not play a rested team.

He said: “No. He is not fit to start this weekend, we will see how it goes on on Wednesday.

"He’s not with the group yet - Pedro is the same.

"Pedro did not practice with the group.

The Blues face a second-leg Champions League knockout fixture with PSG on Wednesday at Stamford Bridge.

They trail 2-1 after the Paris leg, and Hiddink insists Saturday's Stoke clash will not act as a precursor to the midweek match.

He added: "We did in the previous game also make some changes with the youngsters, that is ok.

"Of course, we have in mind the upcoming two games on Wednesday and Saturday but I think we take all PL games very seriously, we have the same approach on this as well.

“We will not allow ourselves to make this a pre-game for Wednesday.”
