Branislav Ivanovic believes a Chelsea out of Europe is the spur to reclaim the Premier League title - but says he will still miss star-studded nights at Stamford Bridge.

For the first time in 23 years, there will be no Blues in any form of European competition after finishing a mid-table 10th in a lack lustre last season.

However, the Serbian international's cup is half-full, kind of, as he thinks the old adage of focusing on the Premier League should bring benefits.

"All of us will miss that competition – but in a way it might be good for us in the weeks, we will have time to focus and prepare the next league games," he said.

“Somewhere in the back of our minds we will miss that (European) challenge psychologically, but overall it could have a positive effect on our team."

Chelsea cantered past Burnley 3-0 on Saturday to register their first clean sheet in 13 home games, and 12 in all games.
