Chelsea star Gary Cahill has called on his teammates to take the game to QPR on Saturday - or risk being on the end of another upset.

The Blues head into Saturday's west London derby at Stamford Bridge four points clear at the top of the Premier League while their neighbours climbed off the foot of the table with victory over Aston Villa on Monday night.

However, Cahill knows how tricky an opponent QPR can be, having played in the last meeting where Rangers' 1-0 win at Chelsea two seasons back.

And he thinks he has the answer to make sure they are on the end of a positive result.

"The onus is on us to be on the front foot," he said. "Last season we struggled against teams that people thought we would beat, it's never as easy as that.

"We can't take a win for granted. They're in good form at the moment. I doubt though they will look forward to coming to Stamford Bridge and hopefully we make it that way."

The Blues go into the game on the back of a 2-1 victory in the Capital One Cup at Shrewsbury Town and a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford against Manchester United in the league.

Cahill said: "I thought we played well against Manchester United. Obviously we were disappointed at the end, but this (against QPR) is a home game to look forward to.

"Man City have a very tough game at the weekend (Sunday's Manchester derby at Eastlands), but QPR are coming in off the back of a good result (the 2-0 win over Aston Villa).

"I watched them on Monday night and they were great so yet another tough one in the Premier League. Hopefully we will get a good result so we can sit back and enjoy Sunday. It's never easy as that."

Following Tuesday's win at Shrewsbury in the Capital One Cup, the Blues have been drawn to travel to Championship leaders Derby County in the quarter finals in December.
