Chelsea and Everton have been charged by the FA for failing to control their players but Branislav Ivanovic escaped sanction.

The Serb had clashed with James McCarthy in the closing stages of the Blues' 1-0 victory, with Willian scoring the only goal of the game in the last minute .

Toffees boss Roberto Martinez believed Ivanovic should have been sent off.

He said: "Ivanovic's behaviour is wrong. He grabs McCarthy around his neck in a very forceful manner, then puts his head against him. James McCarthy doesn't react.

"If you want to be on top of the law, that's a red card and we got nothing out of that moment."

The FA disagreed, saying: "For an FA charge to follow, all three panel members must agree it is a sending-off offence. In this instance, the panel did not believe the conduct was worthy of a dismissal."
