John Terry will undergo a scan to determine whether he is able to face Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday after suffering a hamstring injury.

The Chelsea captain was forced off in the first half of the Blues' 5-1 rout over a pathetic Newcastle side.

And manager Guus Hiddink will monitor his captain carefully to see if he is able to face the Ligue 1 champions elect and hit out at the fixture schedulers.

“There are two big games coming up . We will see what damage we have with the players tomorrow.

“But to prepare within two days for a big game is not enough. We need to consider to get three days.

“I can say that we will exam John Terry's injury on Sunday. It looks like a small muscular problem in his hamstring. There will be a scan tomorrow and we will need more.”

He added: “I think we can say more tomorrow, but it is difficult. But we have a huge game next weekend against Man City in the FA Cup.

“We must calm down a bit now and take wise decisions for Tuesday and upcoming weekend.”

Pedro of Chelsea celebrates scoring his team's second goal

Newcastle proved unworthy opponents as Chelsea secured the first win at Stamford Bridge under Hiddink and the Blues boss was keen to end the run of draws. Pedro scored twice with Diego Costa, Willian and Bertrand Traore also getting onto the scoresheet

He added: “We have been telling people we are unbeaten, but this was first home win since I arrived in December.

“We were unbeaten but we were not really proud of that. After the recovery from December to now, there have been too many draws.

“We wanted to have the status of unbeaten but with victories. That why it was good to get the three points.

“We tried to surprise them early on which which we succeeded. With 20 minutes gone, it was rather decisive.”

The only down side of Chelsea's dominant performance was their inability to keep a clean sheet.

Hiddink explained: “The only thing we are nit happy with and that's a good sign is that we conceded a goal in the 88th minute.

“We were sloppy in losing possession but not defending well either. I was happy to see the players were not happy, that's a good signal.”
