Fully expect the expected - which is a much changed Chelsea side facing West Ham tomorrow from the one that routed Manchester United on Sunday.

As one might guess, Antonio Conte wasn't giving much away ahead of the EFL Cup tie and a first visit to the Olympic Stadium.

But when he the Blues boss said this could be a chance to see the development of young players - you get the picture.

The likes of Nathaniel Chalobah, rumoured to be set for a new bumper contract, look certain to get minutes in Stratford.

Conte declared John Terry fit, but appeared lukewarm to the notion the veteran captain will face Hammers, although the gaffer was sure there would be a no show for injured Branislav Ivanovic, Cesc Fabregas and Kurt Zouma.

The latter came through 45 minutes in a Blues U23 match yesterday, but the France international will only be reassessed after tomorrow night.

Conte explained: "I'm pleased for Zouma, and we will see in the training session after West Ham.

"He had a good answer (after the U21 game) and a good physical aspect.

"Ivanovic is better and he started to train with us from yesterday. It's normal after an injury he needs a bit of time to find the right shape.

"Cesc is not still well - and we must wait. He still has a muscular problem."

A word in your ear: Antonio Conte and Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho on Sunday

Conte insists the EFL Cup matters - after all, it's one of only two trophies Chelsea can win this season.

"Maybe it's time to see some young players and to see the development of these players, and we can see some changes," he added.

"If I put them in it's because I have trust in them - not because it's a gift to another side.

"West Ham at the beginning of the season, I remember a tough game, and all the players are ready and hope for a good team spirit against a tough opponent."
