Guus Hiddink hopes he gets an invite if John Terry holds a Chelsea leaving bash at Stamford Bridge next week.

The captain, leader, legend is set to depart the Blues in the summer after failing to earn a contract extension in west London.

Saturday’s game at Sunderland, a midweek trip to Liverpool and the visit of champions Leicester could be the defender’s final three appearances for the club.

Perhaps tellingly, Terry was not part of Chelsea’s unveiling of next season’s home kit earlier this week and seems destined to leave.

Chelsea have said goodbye to fans’ favourites in recent years but those big names have left without a proper send off as the likes of Frank Lampard have moved on quietly.

But Terry is reportedly looking to hire out the Bridge next week to go out with a bang by holding a farewell party as he begins a new chapter in his career.

Hiddink, who was questioned on the issue at his Friday press conference ahead of the Black Cats trip, was not sure if the rumours were true.

"I hope I will be invited,” quipped the interim Blues manager. “I don't know. You have to ask him."

Chelsea charge £22,000 to hire out the ground for such an event, if you select their premium package, with all sorts of extras thrown in.

Referees, water bottles, changing rooms, safety stewards, use of the perimeter advertising boards, access to the stadium microphone and PA and a BBQ are included.

Jose Mourinho sanctioned Terry’s previous two Chelsea contract extensions but was sacked in December after a shambolic start to the defence of the Blues’ title.

Interim manager Guus Hiddink is also a huge admirer of the captain, however the Dutchman is following Terry in leaving his role at the end of term.

Incoming boss Antonio Conte does not have the emotional attachment to Terry that the aforementioned duo and is unlikely to ask the club to perform a dramatic U-turn.

Terry returned from injury in Monday night’s fiery draw with Tottenham that handed Leicester the Premier League crown.
