CHELSEA have confirmed striker Nicolas Anelka will leave Stamford Bridge in January to join Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua.

The French frontman has fallen out of favour under manager Andre Villas-Boas , and had a transfer request accepted by the club last week.

And the Blues have now agreed a deal with Shanghai that will see the 32-year-old make the switch to Asia when the transfer window reopens next month.

The 32-year-old scored 59 goals in 185 matches for Chelsea since his move from Bolton Wanderers in 2008.
