CHELSEA can derail Manchester City's championship challenge with a win at Eastlands on Wednesday night.

That's according to goalkeeper Petr Cech , who says City are left desperate for three points after title rivals Manchester United thumped Wolves 5-0 yesterday.

Cech said: “They are in the moment of the season where they are not going to be so happy because they got knocked out of the Europa League and lost first spot in the League.

“Manchester United won at Wolves so they need to beat us, as we need to beat them to close the gap to Tottenham. For them it is a must-win contest but we need to get something out of the game too.”

Cech says now may be the ideal time to visit City, with Chelsea's fortunes again on the rise, and their Wednesday night hosts looking jittery.

“They have a great squad, full of internationals and great players,” he said.

“They had a good start to the season and after a few bad results things are looking different.

“But there is still a long way to go. If they get three points from Wednesday then they will still have a chance to win the League, but obviously we want to stop this happening.”
