Focused Jose Mourinho will not allow his players to become complacent after a stunning start to the new season.

The Blues have been sensational so far this term and sit top of the pile and have only dropped two points all season at the home of champions Manchester City.

Chelsea resume their title charge after the international break against Crystal Palace on Saturday Mourinho is still having nightmares about his last trip to Selhurst Park.

Moment of horror: Chelsea's John Terry scores an own goal for Crystal Palace last season

John Terry’s own-goal handed all three points to the Eagles back in late March and proved to be one of the key moments in the crown slipping for Chelsea’s grasp.

Mourinho’s unbeaten home record at Stamford Bridge went the following month as bottom-of-the-table Sunderland stunned the SW6 crowd.

However, the Special One today said his team have learnt their lesson from last year’s disappointment in a chilling warning sent out to the rest of the Premier League.

Fabio Borini scores Sunderland's second goal from the penalty spot.
Shock: Fabio Borini and Sunderland stunned Stamford Bridge

“My teams, normally they are not complacent,” Mourinho explained.

“I’m not complacent and I don’t allow people to be. I’m not the kind of guy who is driven to the moon because of a fantastic result. I think we have to try and play our game and not their game, because in their game they are better than us.”

Chelsea’s record against the top sides was excellent last term and only slip-ups against the likes of Sunderland, Palace and Villa ultimately saw them fall short.

Leader: Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho

Mourinho is not sure things will pan out in the same manner this season but is certain his boys will need to perform a lot better to gun down the Eagles this weekend.

“You cannot say now that we are going to have again a very good season against the top five,” he added.

“Nobody can guarantee that you’re going to keep the same kind of results. Equally there is no guarantee that our results against the second half of the table are going to be negative.

Dropping points: Man City salavaged a late draw against the Blues this season

“Against Everton last season we lost three points, this season we won three points there. Against Man City we won three points there last time and only one this season. There are no replicas in the championship.

“The reality is that these games like Palace away is the kind of easy game for me to analyse. Easy in the sense that I know clearly why we lost last season. So if I know, the players know, and if they know we have to try and not repeat the same kind of performance. It is a difficult game in any case.

“It was a really poor performance. It was the kind of performance where I was trying to win the game but I felt closer to losing than winning. When they score their goal there was still quite a long time to play but since that moment I never really felt we had the game in our hands.

Skipper: John Terry won't let his Chelsea team-mates get away with a lack of effort
"I think we hit the post but we never had control over the game.

“I think they were expecting a really tough match and in the end I think they were very comfortable. It was a game of frustration because they were better than us in the things in their game where they are really good and we were not showing our best quality.”

Chelsea are unbeaten in 14 of their last 15 league London derbies, with their only loss coming at Palace last season.
