Sergi Canos is in line for his second debut as a Brentford player when they face Championship title chasers Brighton.

The Spaniard rejoined the Bees, where he had a loan spell from Liverpool last season, from Norwich on transfer deadline day.

And head coach Dean Smith has confirmed that the forward, who turned 20 on Thursday, will be in contention for a start on Saturday.

The Bees boss said: “He's fine. We had him last year for 30-odd games. We know everything about him. He's available for selection that's for sure.

“He's got a smiling face and loves being around this place. Our masseur Chris Domoney is his big mate and I think there were plenty of brotherly hugs between them.

“If I didn't name him in the squad for Sunday I'd have to lock my door because he'll be banging it down.”

John Egan

John Egan returns to contention after missing the 3-0 win over Aston Villa after receiving 21 stitches in his ear after a collision at Chelsea.

Smith added: “He's trained the last couple of days. He's got a sore looking ear but he's fit and available.”

The contest comes too early for Alan Judge and Rico Henry as they recover from a broken leg and shoulder surgery respectively with the former Walsall man suffering a thigh strain that has kept him from training.

Smith revealed: “Alan Judge started non contact training with us. He looks like his old self. We won't be doing any contact stuff with him – that'd be too early.

“I'll be guided by the medical team. It's been a horrific injury for him. It's been a long time and a long road back but he's starting to look like his old self.”

On Henry, the head coach added: “Rico Henry has had a slight thigh strain but he'll be back with us on Monday.”
