QPR will need more than Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s inside knowledge if they are to get a win at Burton tomorrow night, according to Gareth Hall.

Hasselbaink takes Rs to his old stomping ground to face a Brewers side he guided to the League Two title in 2014-15, before leaving last December to take the reins at Loftus Road.

It should leave the former Chelsea striker with a head start when it comes to plotting the downfall of Tuesday’s hosts.

Not so, says Hall: all the inside info in the world won't replace a decent team performance.

“I don’t think it is an advantage,” (Hasselbaink's past at Burton), he said.

“It's such a tough league that if you are not at it you are going to get beaten. So we have got to be on our game from the off and then hopefully we can pick up the three points.”

The need is all the more acute given Rangers have gleaned only one point from nine since the international break, that coming in Saturday’s home draw with high-flying Birmingham.

Hall felt the clash with one of his old clubs marked an improved performance, but admitted he was left feeling two points had got away.

Wince: Birmingham's David Davis (L) is tackled by Jake Bidwell

“Birmingham have had a very good start to the season and they are a good side, but we are disappointed at home to come away with a point when we think it could have been all three,” he added.

“We did all we could to win the game to be honest. We dominated the second half.

“The first half was tough and they had a couple of chances, but I thought second half we controlled the game and it just that little bit of luck you need at the end of the day didn’t fall our way.

“Their goal was disappointing from my point of view because their boy at the back stick has got above me and they’ve scored, but I think we reacted well after that and we showed what we were capable of.

“We just needed that second goal which didn’t come, but hopefully we can take confidence from the game today into Tuesday.”
