Lasse Vibe pulled up lame ahead of the Kirin Cup Semi-Final in Japan - and didn't play in the penalty shoot-out defeat to Bosnia and Herzegovina over the weekend.

The Brentford striker earlier admitted to GetWestLondon a first season in Championship football has taken its toll as he faced more than 60 games for Bees and Denmark.

It's thought he got a tug at the back of his leg and was removed from the fray in Aichi as a cautionary measure.

Vibe was originally named in Denmark coach's Åge Hareide's starting line-up but had to pull out in the warm-up.

His side scored first through skipper Simon Kjaer and they looked to be heading for next week's final when Vibe's replacement, and new Middlesbrough signing, Victor Fischer made it 2-0 before the break.

However, Bosnia hit back five minutes of the restart when Milan Duric headed past Leicester hero Kasper Schmeichel.

Despite being reduced to 10 for the final 15 minutes, Bosnia equalised late on, before booking their place in the final, where they will face hosts Japan, after a 6-5 win on penalties.
