Florian Jozefzoon is excited by the competition between himself, Sergi Canos, Jota and Josh Clarke for a spot in the Brentford starting line-up.

The Dutchman impressed during the latter half of the season but was regularly used off the bench due to the sensational form of Jota while Canos continued to impress.

With Henrik Dalsgaard joining the club, the Bees are looking at pushing Josh Clarke further forward and Jozefzoon knows that head coach Dean Smith will be having a selection headache.

He said: “I think it's always good for a trainer to get options and as a player it's good to have competition and get the best of each player.

“It's good. If you want to push higher, it's normal that you have competition. You have to show the best of you and then the trainer decides who is going to play.”

Even though Jozefzoon would have wanted more minutes, he found the form of his team-mates inspiring and helps him to aim higher.

He added: “It's good for the club and it's good for them. It's good for me as it sets me goals to aim higher.

“It's normal to get competition. Each player has their time and it was their time. We all have to train hard to get into the starting XI.

“I think all players will get their chances. We play 46 games though so it will come.”
