Josh Clarke has learnt how to be patient during the past 12 months at Brentford.

The 21-year-old has made 32 appearances for the Bees in all competitions during the campaign and scored against QPR and Reading.

However, he did have spells out of the side and recently picked up a consistent run of starts after Maxime Colin's injury in early April.

And when asked what the biggest lesson he learned this season, Clarke replied: “Just to stay focused and be patient.

“Teams change and you're on the bench you can't get distracted and lose your head and when you get a chance you take it.”

There was a natural disappointment after the final day defeat to Blackburn but Clarke took heart from a third successive top 10 finish.

“We've played good football at times and we have to carry that on for next season,” he added.

“We have to take the positives from a top 10 finish and we've done that. Sunday wasn't our best performance – Blackburn were desperate to win and they've done that.”
