Alfie Mawson has agreed a one-year contract extension that ties him to Brentford until 2015.

The defender came through the ranks at Griffin Park after being released by Reading and made his first-team debut in the 5-0 Capital One Cup drubbing against Derby at the beginning of last season.

Mawson failed to add to that solitary appearance, but did enjoy spells out on loan in the Conference with Luton Town and Welling.

The 20-year-old played once for the high-flying Hatters but had more of an impact with the Wings, scoring once in nine games.

Mawson was among seven development squad players offered new deals last month, and he has now put pen to paper to commit himself to Griffin Park for another season.
