Theo Archibald believes that hard work on all aspects of his game will enable him to establish himself in the Brentford first team.

The former Celtic man made his first start for the Bees in the 3-1 defeat against Norwich in the Carabao Cup, having previously come off the bench against Ipswich and Reading.

And the winger is determined to continue to push his way into the first team and earn himself league starts but, in order to succeed, he must work hard.

He said: “I've got to keep working hard and get the gaffer to bring me on. I've got to get stronger as it's a physical league.

“I also want to work on my strengths and weaknesses. I need to work hard every day.”

Archibald was disappointed with how his first start went, even though he showed flashes of his quality.

He added: “I think I could have done a bit better. I didn't get much of a chance on the ball so it's a disappointing feeling in myself and my performance.

“In hindsight, I'd have liked to have done a bit better and show what I can do a bit more.”

That being said, having been a player that wasn't necessarily expecting to be around the first team at this juncture, it has to go down as a productive two months for Archibald.

He explained: “The season has gone well for me. I came in as a B team player and I've been up with the first team. Hopefully, if I keep working hard I can perform better this year.”
