Jan Holldack has admitted that he is yet to find his best position as he finds himself part of the first team picture at Brentford.

The former German U18 international joined the club last summer from FC Cologne and, upon signing, was described as a defender – yet he successfully played in both midfield and defence for the U21 side last season.

Speaking after the pre-season friendly against Peterborough: “Before, I thought my best position was in the centre of midfield, but right now I will play wherever the coach needs me – I am open for anything.

"I really enjoyed playing at right-back tonight, but I will give my best wherever I play, 100 per cent and that’s it.”

Brentford manager Dean Smith

Holldack, who turned 20 back in May, has been with the first team for the entirety of pre-season, featuring in each of the pre-season friendlies to date and is looking to force his way into Dean Smith's plans.

He continued: “I have really enjoyed every moment with the first team and I just want to do my best when I play there.

“Now I want to get some games for the first team, that is my only goal for the coming season.”
