Brentford head coach Dean Smith will wait and see on the fitness of Henrik Dalsgaard after he was knocked unconscious at Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday night.

The Dane was stretchered off after the clash of heads but, fortunately, did not require a trip to hospital and returned to west London on the coach afterwards.

But his participation in Saturday's game at Reading is in serious doubt as he was with the doctors on Thursday morning and did not train with the squad.

Smith said: “I believe there is concussion. He was down on the floor for a long time but he's as right as rain.

“He's up and talking in the dressing room. He's been in today. He's not come out and trained with us. He's been with the doc today and passing some tests.

“We're thankful it's not as serious as what was first thought because it looked very nasty when you see one of your players not move for so long. He's made of stern stuff.

“I'm waiting on the doctors. They'll determine whether it's right for him to play. I'm not getting involved. That's a medical decision as to whether he starts or not. “

Lewis Macleod on the ball against Ipswich

There are no fresh faces in the Brentford squad with Lasse Vibe and Sergi Canos still some way away from being available.

Smith confirmed: “Lasse is still out and is probably a week or two away. Sergi Canos is still out. Lewis Macleod is in full time training.

“He's playing in small sided games and getting physical contact. Hopefully in the next few weeks he'll be involved in a couple of games.”
