There was relief in the stands at Griffin Park yesterday as Brentford ended their losing run against Burton Albion - and out photographer was there to capture the fans as well as the action.

The Bees took an early lead through Scott Hogan but fell behind to a poorly defended equaliser, only to go back in front through that man Hogan again with his 13th goal of the season - and there nothing unlucky about it!

Hogan's luck was out though when what looked like a perfectly legitimate hat-trick strike was ruled out for a foul on former Bee John Mousinho, who was shown on replays to have merely slipped.

With Hogan also hitting the post with a delightful lob over the keeper, John Egan having a header saved at point blank range and Tom Field having another header cleared off the line, Brentford would have been kicking themselves had they not taken all three points - but they held on.

Manager Dean Smith said: “I felt we should have killed the game off earlier with the chance we had, but Burton didn't roll over. I thought it was a fair result chances wise, as apart from their goal, I can't remember Dan (Bentley) having do an awful much.

“I didn't see a lot wrong with Scott's third goal, but I felt at one stage their players were officiating themselves, especially when one put his hand on the ball and gave himself a free kick. I wouldn't want one of my centre halves going over in that situation, it looked a perfectly good goal.”
