Brentford are still trying to thrash out a new deal for Jonathan Douglas.

The 32-year-old’s contract is due to expire in the summer and the Irishman has turned down the club’s initial offer of an extension.

Douglas has made more than 150 appearances in red and white stripes since his move from Swindon Town in 2011 and has been an almost ever-present for Mark Warburton’s men this campaign.

Brentford captain Tony Craig signed a new two-and-a-half year deal on Tuesday, but the Bees are yet to agree terms with Douglas.

However, talks between sporting director Frank McParland and the experienced midfielder’s representatives are ongoing and the club remain hopeful of reaching a positive conclusion.

The Bees will be keen to avoid a repeat of Clayton Donaldson’s contract saga that saw their leading scorer join Championship rivals Birmingham City for nothing in the summer after he rejected a new deal in TW8.
