Great Dane: Andreas Bjelland

A number of Brentford team-mates look set to go head to head next month when the World Cup play-offs are played out - with a place at Russia 2018 up for grabs.

Denmark were drawn against the Republic of Ireland in this afternoon's draw, meaning the banter will surely be flying at the Bees' Jersey Road training ground before long.

At the centre of it will be centre back partners John Egan and Andreas Bjelland, who led the Bees' back line together in Saturday's win over Millwall.

Egan has two caps for the Irish, having recently forced his way in the national side, while the older Bjelland had 26 caps for his native Denmark.

Lasse Vibe, who has 11 caps, and Henrik Dalsgaard, who has eight, could also feature in the games for Denmark - and all will be hoping to make December's draw for the World Cup group stages.

The first leg will be played in Denmark sometime between November 9 and 11, while the second leg will be played in Dublin sometime between November 12 and 14.
