Scott Hogan has no fears about returning to the New York Stadium for the first time since his horror injury.

The Brentford striker damaged his anterior cruciate ligament in the closing stages of the contest in August 2014 as the Bees won 2-0 thanks to goals from Andre Gray and Nick Proschwitz.

It was the beginning of a long 18 months for the Bees frontman, who suffered a repeat injury in March last year before making his return 12 months later.

And Hogan has no fears about returning to the ground where his injury nightmare began.

He said: “I'm thinking about scoring a hat-trick, running away with three points and then rolling to Sheffield Wednesday and hopefully winning that to end the opening month with 12 points from 15.

“Rotherham is another ground and I want to go there and win a game of football, score as many goals as I can.

“It doesn't matter what happened before. I re-did my knee on the training ground so technically I should be scared of going there every day.”

Cheeky: Scott Hogan makes it 2-0

Hogan, who averaged a goal every 23 minutes at the end of last season, opened his account against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday and, for the striker, it's a case of one down, at least 29 to go.

He added: “My job is to score goals. If I don't score I've got to do everything I can to help us win. I didn't get chances against Ipswich but I felt I worked hard and did my bit for the team.

“I felt all that was missing was a goal. It's all about playing well and get performances together. A week is a long time in football.

“There's no pressure on me to score but I will score and it's nice to get off the mark and stop people worrying.

“At the end of the day my target is 30+ and I've got 29 more to go. I'm confident the new boys will see me.

“The goals will come and it's only a matter of time until I get four or five chances to score and I'll put half of them away.”
