Philipp Hofmann has revealed that the Championship's German players are in constant communication.

The Brentford frontman has been in regular talks with QPR's Sebastian Polter and the pair have a competition to see who scores the most goals.

As things stand, the two are tied on four goals in the league but the Rangers frontman's goal in the Capital One Cup puts him ahead.

Hofmann said: “I speak to him a bit. There's a competition between us. There are a lot of German players in the Championship. It's not easy as it's different football to Germany. Now it's getting better and better.

Fifth goal: Sebastian Polter

“We all talk to each other. There's Patrick Bauer at Charlton, Rouwen Hennings at Burnley, Uwe Hunemeir at Brighton. I played against Hunemeir in Germany in the second league.

“I don't speak to any of the Germans in the Premier League but I hope to in the future.”

Polter has previously spoken about his relationship with Hofmann but the inter-club rivalry doesn't come into it at the moment.

He said: “He wants to score more than me and I said I want to score more than him. But we haven’t spoke about the table, and which club is going to finish higher.”
