Lasse Vibe may be the oldest player in the squad, joking that he was seen as the Dad, but he is happy to impart his wisdom on helping Brentford's young stars to shine.

The Bees have one of the youngest squads in the Championship with Vibe, at 30, being the veteran.

And he is happy to use his experiences to assist his team-mates, especially when it comes to the little day to day things that come with being a professional footballer.

He said: “There are a few young players in our squad. There's a big age gap between me and all of our players.

“We have a few other experienced players but as you get older it becomes more natural to talk on the pitch.

“You know the game better and we know what we need to do. It's little things every day.

“I was similar as a young player, in keeping to myself and not bringing much to the team. We need players who bring more to the team.”

Imparting wisdom: Lasse Vibe

Vibe has some competition up front this season having been the Bees' only senior striker available at the end of last season and he is motivated by the impending battle with Neal Maupay and Ollie Watkins.

He added: “I've got some company up front as it's not normal when you're the only striker at the club.

“I know they've moved up my Danish friend Justin (Shaibu) but we need more than a young striker and a striker at Brentford so it's good they've brought in some new faces.

“I've only seen Neal once and that looked promising. He looked like a smart player. He's not the biggest but he's sharp. I look forward to seeing what Ollie brings. I've heard he's good.

“Competition motivates me. I need to be on my toes. Last year showed that even being the only one, I was motivated anyway. I'm enjoying it here and I'm looking forward to scoring as many goals as possible here.”

Vibe is out of contract next summer but insisted that nothing has changed regarding his future.

He explained: “The only thing that changes anything around my future as if I don't perform then I'll sit on the bench.”
