Brentford striker Philipp Hofmann is determined to put the Bees' 3-1 defeat to Reading behind them when they face Leeds on Saturday.

The Bees have four points from their first four games and have lost their last two to end a painful August for the club on and off the pitch.

And the former German under-21 international knows he and his team must improve ahead of the trip to Elland Road.

He said: “It's a difficult game against Leeds but we have two weeks time to learn about the last game and do it better.

“We have a good team. We never give up but we must learn to stay level as the other team gets in front in the first-half.”

Hofmann is adjusting to English football and admitted his performance against Reading was not what he wanted as Brentford were beaten heavily.

He added: “It's a new experience for me. It's nice football here, nice stadiums and a nice atmosphere here. It's a good club.

“My first games I was very good but against Reading I was unlucky. The first half was terrible but we were the better side in the second half.”
