Sergi Canos is happy that teams are targeting him for heavy tackles as it means they are worried about him.

The Brentford winger has been the victim of some hard challenges by the half-way line in the last three Bees games, with QPR full back James Perch the latest player to send the 20-year-old flying.

However, the popular Spaniard brushed it off and feels that opponents targeting him can only be a positive.

“I'm happy with that because it means the defenders know me and they don't know how to stop me. That gives me confidence,” Canos said.

“I think teams are targeting me. We're doing really well and we're playing good football and I think we are showing everyone what we can do.”

The Brentford squad would have earned a pint or two on Saturday night but the focus will soon turn to next weekend's trip to Fulham with the Bees looking to delay the Whites clinching a play-off berth.

Canos added: “We need to rest up now and start thinking about Saturday again. We are going to celebrate first though.”
