Josh Clarke was delighted to take the plaudits after scoring the first goal in Brentford's 2-0 win over QPR.

The Bees full back turned the ball home from close range and it trickled over the line, much to the delight of the young winger.

Romaine Sawyers added a fine second in the closing stages of the contest to round off a Bees win that was fully deserved.

Clarke admitted after the game that it was an 'amazing feeling' to bag his second goal of the season and help Brentford to bragging rights over Rangers.

“It was a special goal. It was in the box and I had to turn and shoot and luckily it went in. It was an amazing feeling,” he said.

“I looked up and saw it creeping over the line and I was delighted. I'm buzzing with that. I looked up and it was slowly going over and I was like yes, thank you. I had a feeling it was going in.

Clarke was named man of the match for his performance and it will take pride of place in his collection.

“It's going to join my other one on the shelf. I'm delighted to get man of the match and we're looking forward to next week,” he added.

“I went into the game with confidence. It was on TV and the fans were behind us. I didn't want to let that effect me. I got on the ball and tried to create something.

“I knew I was starting on Thursday. We wanted to start fast and create something as early as possible. We created so many chances.”
