Maxime Colin knows that the Brentford players Dean Smith selects to face Burton Albion must be on their mettle to pick up three points.

The Bees have lost their last two games to Huddersfield and Wolves and face the Brewers who are unbeaten in six and still need points to secure Championship safety.

The west Londoners are not yet over the line themselves and Colin knows that they must step up after a poor performance against Wolves.

He said: “The 11 who start and the ones who come on need to be ready for Burton as they're fighting to stay in the Championship. We need to be ready. We have to be 100 per cent and push on.”

The game at the Pirelli Stadium is the final one before the international break and the Frenchman wants to go into the two-week hiatus in good spirits.

“We still have one more game until the international break but it'll be nice to be able to get some energy back. We're frustrated with our performance on Tuesday night,” he added.

“The break will be good to breathe a little and take energy back so the focus must be on Burton and then the international break.”

Colin scored his fourth goal of the campaign when he opened the scoring against Wolves on Tuesday but, much like his goal against Preston, it didn't count for anything.

He lamented: “I wish my goal on Tuesday could have brought us three points for the team. I've scored more than usual. It's good for me but I wish it led to three points.”
