Alan Judge has undergone surgery to repair the broken leg he suffered at Ipswich on Saturday.

The Irishman was the victim of a reckless Luke Hyam challenge in just the second minute of the contest. The Ipswich man apologised for causing the injury.

Judge was stretchered off receiving oxygen and the club confirmed that he had broken his leg on Saturday night.

And the Brentford talisman has now undergone surgery and is under the care of the leading lower limb consultant in the country as he begins the early stages of his recovery, but no timescale on a return to action can be made at this juncture.

Head of medical Neil Greig told the club's official website: "Following a fracture injury to his lower leg during Saturday's game, Alan last night (Monday) underwent successful surgery to repair the injury and will now begin the early stages of recovery.

“Whilst the injury is clearly significant, Alan has been placed under the care of the leading lower limb consultant in the country, whose experience in managing such injuries in unparalleled. As such, there is every confidence that we will achieve a positive outcome.

"Alan is a determined character and I have no doubt that he will commit fully to the challenge of returning fitter and stronger than before.

“He will continue to receive the fullest support from the outstanding group of medical and conditioning staff at Brentford during what is clearly a difficult time for him and his family.

“It is too early to speculate on recovery timescales at this stage and we will provide further information as we are able to."
