Alan Judge has admitted he struggled dealing with the changes at Brentford over the summer, but believes he has got used to what the club want him to do.

The Irishman's displays under Mark Warburton were of a consistently high standard but that appeared to have dropped after the Bees boss left the club.

And Judge admitted that he found it difficult to adapt to the new role the club had for him.

He said: “To be honest with you I found it difficult at first with all the changes and my performances showed that.

“I got to know what Marinus (Dijkhuizen) wanted and enjoyed the games at Leeds and Middlesbrough. I was used to what Warbs did.

“I'm very thankful to Warbs but also thankful to the owner (Matthew Benham). I think I've got used to things.

“When you see your mates go you think what's going on but we've brought players in.”

Judge was playing a more holding role under Warburton last season but was pushed into a variety of roles by former head coach Marinus Dijkhuizen.

He explained: “I think my best position is where the ball is. I don't think I have a certain best position.

“I played a more defensive role last year and I felt I played my best there. Now I'm on the left. It's a good thing to play in a lot of positions. I see it as a good thing.”

Judge is also delighted to see Alan McCormack back in the Brentford first-team after his season was affected by injury and the form of Moses Odubajo.

Back: Alan McCormack

He added: “Macca was unlucky as he was the main right back until he got injured and then Moses kicked on there.

“Macca was very patient and helping the lads. I'm happy for Macca this year for getting himself fit and becoming a main player.”

Sergi Canos has also caught the eye of Judge and he believes the Spaniard can give the club a new dimension with his full-blooded performance.

The Irishman explained: “He's fearless. He'll get the ball and take on people with his tricks. If it doesn't work first time, he'll try again.

“He lifted us against Preston and gave us something different. He had a few brushes with the referee but what player doesn't on their home debut?”
