Harlee Dean has admitted that he is worried for his Brentford future as Matthew Benham restructures the club.

The Bees defender has a year left on his contract but, with the club undergoing an overhaul in player recruitment, he is unsure whether he will be in the new head coach's plans after Mark Warburton's departure.

And he is keen to have some clarity as to whether he needs to look elsewhere or has a future at Griffin Park with Brentford appointing Rasmus Ankersen and Phil Giles as co-directors of football.

He said: “I'm worried. I want to know what's happening. Now the season has finished and the team has finished, you worry about yourself and where you stand.

“Hopefully we'll be told before we break up for the summer. We want security and if you're valued or not.”

Like all players, Dean had some ups and downs during a season which saw the Bees finish fifth before losing to Middlesbrough in the play-offs.

But his form over the past two months has been nothing short of exceptional and the defender is pleased with how his game has progressed.

He added: “We can all be proud of how we stepped up. In the last couple of months I have raised my game and gone on to another level.

“It's nice to finish the season strongly but it's a shame the season ended prematurely in my opinion. We've got to build on it and go again next year.”
