Brentford's squad are not worrying about who will be in charge of their trip to Bolton on Monday, Nico Yennaris has insisted.

Lee Carsley said after the 2-1 win against Nottingham Forest that he had taken charge of his last game for the club and would be returning to assist Kevin O'Connor with the development squad.

The Bees are yet to make an appointment regarding the new head coach, although Swansea assistant Pep Clotet is the favourite for the role, meaning Carsley, his assistant Paul Williams and Flemming Pedersen have been involved on the training pitch.

But the off-field uncertainty hasn't affected the squad in training this week and they remain fully focused on upcoming games.

Yennaris said: “The squad are still focused. Because we've had it explained to us as to what is going to happen.

“We're just getting on with it and we're waiting for whoever it is to come in. The mentality and the focus of the squad hasn't changed and our mind is on Bolton.”

The former Arsenal man has been one of the biggest successes of Carsley's reign as Yennaris came in from the cold to establish himself as a capable right back.

Having been a bit-part player or on loan at Wycombe during his first 18 months at Griffin Park, the full back has been an ever-present since Carsley's second game in charge at Derby.

Yennaris said: “I've never doubted I could play at this level but I think, with how long it has been it's given us an opportunity to show everyone I can play at this level.

“It's nice to get the opportunity to get the run of games.”

The 22-year-old can play in a variety of positions but it appears he is set as a full back, for the time being.

He explained: “I can play in numerous positions but getting a run of games in one position is always nice.

“It may be my final position but that's down to the manager and it's a discussion to have in the future. It may be my position from now on.”
