Brentford are likely to have an unchanged squad when they travel to Preston North End on Saturday.

Sergi Canos, who made his return from injury against Millwall, played 75 minutes for the B team in a 3-1 win over Inter Milan and is likely to travel to the north west.

Lewis Macleod also came through 75 minutes in Italy but it is still to early for a return with Smith suggesting that the Cardiff game after the next international break has been earmarked as a potential comeback date.

He said: “Sergi is in and around the squad and has been training with us for the last 10 days. Lewis has been training with us but he's building himself up to a full 90 minutes.

“I'm hoping that, come Cardiff, he'll be in a position to push for a place in the squad.”

Elsewhere, the rest of the squad have come through a difficult week's training and only long-term absentees Rico Henry and Alan Judge absent from the group.

Smith added: “There are always niggles at every football club but nothing that's going to keep anyone out for Saturday.”
