Brentford will find out how long Lewis Macleod will be absent for this week after the former Rangers man suffered a knee injury during the 2-0 win over QPR.

The midfielder, who had come on as a substitute, went down late in the second half clutching his knee and he was stretchered off, while receiving oxygen, after lengthy treatment.

Macleod has had a string of injuries since joining the club in January 2015 and has only made 14 appearances in that time; 13 of those coming this season with him enjoying a seven minute cameo at Brighton in February.

And, for head coach Dean Smith, the hope is that the Bees will not be missing the Scot for a long period of time.

The Brentford boss said: “He felt a click in his knee which is not good. We know he's had a number of months out injured before.

“He's such a talented player so it'll be unfortunate if it's a long term injury. I'm hoping it is a short one.”

Sam Saunders was a late drop out for the 2-0 win over QPR after suffering an ankle injury in the warm up.
