Brentford are waiting for a tribunal date over signing Gillingham defender John Egan in the summer.

The Bees have struggled to negotiate sufficient compensation for the Irishman and as such, an independent panel will decide how much the west Londoners pay.

Negotiations are still ongoing with Southend over goalkeeper Dan Bentley with co directors of football Rasmus Ankersen and Phil Giles working with their Shrimpers counterparts.

Head coach Dean Smith said: “We've been waiting for a tribunal date. The John Egan one is not too far away from getting a date for tribunal.

“I've not heard anything regarding Dan. That's in the hands of the directors of football; we'll let them deal with it at the moment.”

Egan and Bentley have been ever presents of Brentford so far this season and have both impressed with their performances.

The defender has three goals to his credit, a brace against Ipswich in August and the equaliser against Aston Villa in September.

The goalkeeper has been a consistent performer between the sticks and has made crucial saves to earn Brentford points, notably against Nottingham Forest.
