Brentford are set to appoint Mark Warburton as their new manager following Uwe Rosler’s departure to Wigan Athletic.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Neil Warnock had been linked with the vacant Griffin Park hotseat but Warburton appears to have won the race.

Warburton will move from his role as sporting director, having played a key role in the club’s success since his appointment in 2011.

He initially arrived at Griffin Park as a coach alongside Nicky Forster, following Andy Scott's sacking, and helped to steer the club to safety.

Warburton took up his current post that summer after a restructuring of the club, overseeing a transformation of the first team and academy.

He was linked with a similar role at Premier League outfit West Bromwich Albion last year, but committed his future to Brentford instead.

An official announcement on his appointment is expected on Tuesday morning.
