Brentford have opened contract talks with experienced midfielder Jonathan Douglas.

The 32-year-old Irishman has started every Championship game for the Bees this season following promotion from League One.

However, his current deal at Griffin Park is due to expire in the summer, and Brentford chiefs have began negotiations to extend his time in west London.

Douglas, who has been wearing the armband in the absence of captain Tony Craig, is set to make his 150th appearance in red and white stripes when the Bees take on his former club Leeds United at the weekend.
