Kamo Mokotjo has pledged to give Brentford dominance as a player and on the ball after joining the club from FC Twente.

The South Africa international made the move to Griffin Park last week and has the nickname 'the General'.

This was one of the things that excited Dean Smith about the holding midfielder and, when asked what can the Brentford fans expect from him, Mokotjo remained keen to live up to that moniker.

He said: “Dominance as a player and on the ball. A leader on the pitch and someone who is assertive. I like taking the initiative on the pitch. That's important to me.”

Brentford tried to sign the midfielder two years ago but were prevented by work permit issues at the time.

And Mokotjo is excited to take on the challenge.

He said: “It is good to finally be here and I've always had a good feeling about the club for me. As a person and the style of football, this was the best decision for me.”
