Charlie Adams has set his sights on a regular spot in Brentford's first-team squad after making his home debut in Tuesday night's win against Tranmere.

The 19-year-old came on as a late substitute in the 2-0 victory at Griffin Park - his first appearance since making his debut at Carlisle 12 months ago.

Adams, who was recently recalled from a loan spell at Barnet, hopes he has done enough to earn a place on the bench for Saturday's crunch clash with Leyton Orient.

He said: "It was great for me to get on. I've been doing well in the under-21s and got the opportunity to go to Barnet.

"I did well there and was called back and got the chance to make my home debut, so I'm really pleased.

"The manager has shown faith in me and I want to be as good as I can be. Hopefully I can get some more game time between now and the end of the season."

Adams played five times for the north Londoners before boss Mark Warburton brought the midfielder back to TW8 this week.

But the Bees youth team graduate says his spell in the Conference has benefited him.

"Under-21s football is good, but it doesn't test you physically," he added.

"The results obviously mean more also. Barnet are a passing team but sometimes that goes out the window because you need the result."
