Dean Smith will have no qualms about bringing Lewis Macleod on against Leeds.

The Brentford midfielder was on the bench against Birmingham after a year out with an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

And Smith no longer considers him an injured player but now a first team player but knows that he has to manage his load.

When Scott Hogan returned from the same injury, Smith brought him on in the game before the international break and similar could happen with the Scot.

Smith said: “The idea for Lewis was for him to be pushing for the squad for the Cardiff game but I saw enough of him in training if he needed to go on for 20, 30 minutes.

“We've got a game in the international break where he'll play the full 90 minutes. He's not an injured player for me but a first team player.

“He's available for the squad and will be from here. We have to manage his load and he's managing the injury he did have.”
