Brentford could welcome back Sam Saunders from illness when they take on Hull City at the KC Stadium tonight.

The Bees veteran missed Saturday's win at MK Dons after being struck down by a bug, but if fit he, along with John Swift, will be looking to challenge for a place back in the side.

Swift was back on the bench at MK after recovering the foot injury sustained on international duty, but was not risked.

Bees boss Dean Smith said: “Sam came in on Friday ill and was sent home, and wasn't good enough to travel to Milton Keynes. We will have to see how he is.

“Swifty was on the bench but has not had a lot of training time. He's ready though, and it's like having a new signing. He will put himself forward for Tuesday.

Ready to return: John Swift

“Andy Gogia has been champing at the bit to get on as well and put some decent effort in too.

“It will be a tough game as Hull got some really good players in their team. You only have to look at their team sheet to know you are in for a tough game.

“We've played an awful lot of games already in April with a threadbare squad, so it will be very tough for us, but on the run of form we're on at the moment, we know if we win we can consolidate in the top 10, and that's very important to the players.

“The goal difference has also gone back to zero, which give us a lot of heart.”

Brentford should also welcome Scott Hogan back into the squad after he was rested for MK, but the striker is likely to start on the bench.
