Konstantin Kerschbaumer credited his dad for helping him reach the professional ranks.

The 24-year-old enjoyed having his father as his youth team manager before he was taken on by Rapid Vienna in 2009.

And the Brentford midfielder still has fond memories of his time learning his craft and recalls facing their big rivals, even in a youth team game.

“I played in my youth team. My dad was the manager of this team. It was really fun. You had your friends around,” the Austrian said.

“When I was at 15 I started at an academy and it became more professional.

“When we played with Rapid Vienna against Austria Vienna. It was a little derby. It was exciting as a young player. You enjoyed playing your rival and it was nice.”

Kerschbaumer had a difficult second season at Brentford, making 20 appearances and scoring once.
