Swansea boss Garry Monk insisted today that Pep Clotet is still committed to the Swans, despite reports linking him with Brentford.

The Spaniard has emerged as the leading candidate to take over as the Bees' head coach with incumbent Lee Carsley believing an announcement will be made soon.

However, Monk, who has been under pressure at the Liberty Stadium in recent weeks, is still working closely with Clotet to ensure Swansea can escape the downward spiral they've been in.

He said: “I was not surprised with the calibre of coach Pep is. For sure, having worked with him, he is incredibly committed to this club.

“We enjoy working together and are focused on having a good season here. We discussed the speculation, but that's all it is. You can’t avoid it, but he is committed to doing a job here.

Brentford have been looking for a new head coach since the sacking of Marinus Dijkhuizen and current boss Carsley doesn't want the job on a permanent basis.
