David Button has urged his Brentford team-mates to carry on the good work done by Lee Carsley during his eight weeks in charge.

The Bees are set to name a new head coach this week after the former Everton midfielder, who ruled himself out of the running for the job on day one, revealed it was going to be his last game.

And Button knows he and his team-mates must continue their fine form, where they have won five of their last seven games, to help the new boss, believed to be Pep Clotet, bed in.

He said: “It's down to us to carry that good form on now under whoever comes in.

“The turnaround has been massive and a big part of it has been down to him. We're certainly looking up now and are confident by Christmas we will be well in there.

“Cars came in and gave everyone a new lease of life. He made people enjoy their football again.

“He's a big character to have around and will make the transition easier.

“From where we were to where we are now is massive and hopefully by the end of the season it will take shape.
